How this site is built, and what it's built with.
On this page
This site is documentation for a person. Every page you're reading is a markdown file in a git repository, rendered plainly — no hero section, no scroll animation, nothing between you and the text.
How it's built#
Next.js App Router, statically generated at build time. Tailwind CSS for layout,
react-markdown and remark-gfm for the prose. Notes live in content/notes/ as
markdown with frontmatter; the sidebar, the table of contents, the search index, and
the sitemap are all derived from those files, so adding a page means adding a file.

Keyboard#
⌘K/Ctrl K— search every page↑↓— move through resultsEnter— open the selected resultEsc— close search
Design#
The layout borrows its shape from technical documentation — a persistent left nav, a narrow reading column, and an "on this page" rail — because that's the format that respects a reader's time. Prior art: Material for MkDocs and jxnl.co.
Theme follows your system by default; the toggle in the header overrides it and remembers your choice.
The alpaca#
The mark is mine — traced from the original drawing into a single vector path, with the glasses knocked out so it still reads at 16 pixels in a browser tab.
An earlier version of this site was a working macOS desktop that ran in the browser: draggable windows, a dock, a Finder, a Photos app. It was fun to build and a lot to ask of someone who just wanted to know whether I could do the job. This replaced it.
